you know you’re in for a classy tour when there are no cock-and-balls drawings on the walls of the green rooms. neko et al are already at the variety playhouse when we arrive, and it is lovely as ever to see them. we catch up in between soundchecks, and their set is (of course) fantastic, augmented by judge’s kickass artwork/animation behind the band. eric used to live in atlanta, so there are many old friends of his that come to the show. it’s great to see so many familiar faces. we capped the night off with drinks and corn dog nuggets at the yacht club after the show, a fine way to kick off the tour.
